Mar 11The Show Must Go On
The sad news is our 1 in 3 Kickstarter project didn’t meet it’s goal. We raised $2,991 of our $7,000 goal. When time ran out, no one was charged, the world kept turning, and we (sadly) were back at square one of our fundraising event.
Or were we?
Yes, we had invested 60 days of our time, efforts and man/woman power into making our Kickstarter project succeed, and we failed…but none of this went to waste. As it never does.
A month later, we are back on our A game and things are going in the right direction. We set up a donation page on our website using paypal, and it’s super easy to donate (even just a $1!).
We have 11 ADR (additional dialogue recording) sessions to record at $73 a session. We are working on a class resource to do the syncing and mixing for the final edit and then it’s off to the DVD mill.
Sometimes you fail. Sometimes your funding is unsuccessful. Sometimes it seems hopeless. But then again, Abe Lincoln knows what’s up because he lost…a lot. And us filmmakers, we have to learn the language of failure (a lot), but always with enthusiasm of course, in the spirit of Abe…
“Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”
-President Abraham Lincoln
My role on this campaign:
- Gathered all information to kick off Kickstarter campaign. Wrote copy and helped with branding.
- Shot and edited eight videos for the Kickstarter campaign (can be viewed here)
- Coordinated Kickstarter Facebook promotion plan. Including creating a batch of 1 in 3 Kickstarter social media profile pictures to raise awareness at the beginning of the campaign until the end. Donated my profile picture for 60 days to the awareness.
- Assisted with social media updates and interactions. Also pushed personal updates on other filmmaker related walls in Oklahoma and in general.
- Pushed unique “updates” via Kickstarter to keep backers informed about that status of the project.
- Worked on email campaign to raise awareness about the fundraiser.
